The Futurama fanverse has been buzzing with excitement this week over the release of a new episode of the world’s greatest show – albeit in audio only, radio-drama format.
If you haven’t yet listened, then you can do so here:
Entitled Radiorama, this podcast episode reunites the Planet Express crew, including Fry (Billy West), Bender (John DiMaggio), Leela (Katey Sagal), Professor Farnsworth (Billy West), Zoidberg (Billy West), Amy (Lauren Tom), and Hermes (Phil LaMarr). It also features other popular recurring characters from the franchise, as well as a plot about an alien life form that is composed entirely of snippets from 21st century podcasts.
The episode is introduced by comedian and Nerdist creator Chris Hardwick, who explains that he had been trying to coax Futurama co-creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen into a collaboration for almost two years. Thank goodness that nagging was successful!
It’s a double-length feature, although some of that time is taken up with an introduction, and ads for the Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow game that is getting heavy promotion on social media at the moment. We will be discussing that particular game in a future blog post, so keep an eye out for that.
